How it works

  1. Scan the code on your table

Point your phone's camera at the QR code. Your table's bill opens in the browser, with nothing to install.

  2. See the bill as it is

Every dish and drink, read from the restaurant's own system and kept up to date while you look.

  3. Split it your way

Pay for what you had, split evenly between everyone, or pay a set amount. Each person pays their own share from their own phone.

  4. Tip if you like

When you're asked for a tip, pick one or choose no tip: that choice is always there. Some restaurants don't ask, for example when a service charge is already on the bill.

  5. Pay in a tap

Apple Pay, Google Pay or a card. Before you pay you see every line, including a service fee, usually 0.5%, on your share and tip.

  6. Done, and on your way

Your server's phone shows the table as paid. Get a receipt by email or as a PDF if you want one, and rate the meal if you have a minute.

What you pay, before you pay

Your share
of the bill, with tax, exactly as the restaurant rings it up
Your tip
only if you choose one
0.5%
the usual service fee on your share and tip, shown as its own line

The service fee goes to Paytabl, not to the restaurant or your server. Paying your server directly avoids it, and a refund gives back its share.

An account is optional

Sign in with your phone number if you'd like to keep your receipts in one place, save a card for next time and collect points where a restaurant offers them. You never need an account to pay.

Questions guests ask

Do I need to download an app?

No. The bill opens in your phone's browser when you scan the code on your table.

Do I need an account?

No. Anyone at the table can pay without signing in. An account only adds saved receipts, saved cards and points.

Is there a fee?

Yes, a service fee on your share and tip, usually 0.5%. It appears as its own line before you pay, and paying your server directly avoids it.

Can everyone pay separately?

Yes. Each person opens the same bill on their own phone and pays for their items, an even share or a set amount. What's already paid is taken off for everyone else.

What if the bill changes while I'm paying?

Before your payment goes through, the bill is checked again against the restaurant's system. If your share changed, you see the new amount before anything is charged.

Who sees my card details?

Your card details go to our payment provider, Stripe. Neither the restaurant nor Paytabl stores your full card number.

Does the restaurant see my rating?

Yes. Every rating goes to the restaurant, the low ones too.
